  • 5weeks from search start to Director offer acceptance

Emerging tech company Soul Machines needed several key sales roles filled urgently while building a new sales organization.

The client

Dinna gave me access to candidates I could not have done on my own.

She did a lot of the front-line work for me with the careful and early qualifying of candidates, so by the time I was talking to the candidates they were qualified.

I’d worked with Dinna before so I knew she does her homework – her research is targeted and focused. She knew my wants, needs and goals and exceeded them. That allowed me to ramp the team faster and to hit my goals faster…

I’m seeing incremental results and uplift that I would not have seen otherwise without Dinna and her team’s help.

The unique challenge

Soul Machines is a fast-growing tech company in the new & emerging technology field. With offices in San Francisco, Australia and Tokyo, they’re bringing a human face to customer-facing AI across a number of industries.

In late 2020, having experienced rapid growth in their Customer Success team, Soul Machines needed to quickly identify and hire a Director of Customer Success / Client Account Director.

They needed to move quickly to fill this key role due to impending maternity leave in the department’s leadership, and with the Christmas holiday season right around the corner.

My work as Recruitment Partner

Soul Machines engaged me to help them find someone who could adapt quickly to an emerging category-creating technology in a rapidly growing environment.

The right candidate needed a track record of success working with, creating, and expanding upon Customer Success processes, and to be able to work with ambiguity.

Our project would begin right before the Christmas holiday, typically a challenging time to begin a search.

The outcome

Under a tight deadline, we quickly identified several candidates and began interviews. A top candidate emerged, was offered the Director position and accepted the role within just five weeks of the project starting.

The candidate was able to start work just a week later, before her leader began maternity leave. She immersed herself in the role quickly, rising to the challenge in tricky circumstances.

In fact, the client was so impressed that they promoted her to Senior Director less than four months later, with a greater scope of responsibility and the full backing of her leadership team.

The Soul Machines team were thrilled with their new colleague, and she was over the moon to start making an impact in such an emerging company and exciting technology.

In total we were able to fill 6 key sales roles in only 9 weeks – including over the Christmas period.
